Jan, Pavel and me had a small BBQ in my area. It is quite comfortable, as I don’t have to travel, the gards never turn up and theres no scum loitering around. I cant rembemer when it exactly was, but it was a summer evening a few years ago. With the night falling over Dublin Bay the cold also arrived. There was a fire further down but we ignored it. It got very cold. I thought about leaving. But Jan and Pavel decided to make a bonfire as well. And they collected whatever is burning from the trainline. Soon we had a raging fire out of the dying ashes. The other fire further down disappeared. Suddenly we saw a man approaching us from the darkness. A small irish man, slightly older than us. He introduced himself as Chris and being homeless. Jan didn’t believe it, him having a mobile and Air Max. Jan said the the czech homeless looking way different. But he insisted. He showed us his scars. Somebody threw petrol over him lighted it, him sleeping rough. He told us the story how the priest send him away in that rainy night. He phoned his friend telling him that he is with the fire now. He was asking for change and jumped over the wall, running over the trainline to the petrol station and got cigarettes. He offered them to us. And then he talked about this place further down…that they are camping there summertime… that it is the only place by the sea, where theres no flood coming, not even in the winter…
